Two Die in Virginia Floodwaters Near Natural Bridge
Two children, Heidi Schmidt 12 and Matthew Schmidt 7, drowned after being swept from a foot bridge near the Natural Bridge resort in Rockbridge County Virginia. Their parents from Saginaw Michigan were vacationing nearby. Rivers rose to dangerous levels with up to 7.3 inches of rain since Saturday and further rises forecast downstream toward Richmond. The same storms stretched from Florida to New England and across the Gulf Coast to Texas with showers and thunderstorms. Weather outlook shows highs in the upper 70s and a 26 to 40 percent chance of rain tonight and tomorrow. Air quality is moderate at an index of 67.
