Elk Watcher at Burnet Park Zoo Tracks Elk Behavior
zoologist Don Moore, a Burnet Park Zoo curator and ESF graduate, monitors elks and a bison herd for 16 hours weekly from a fixed spot. He has logged about 450 hours over nine months for his master’s thesis, noting elk eating sleeping and occasional fights with the 900-pound Alamo and other males.
