Protests Grow as Nuclear Sites Face Civil Disobedience
About 325 demonstrators were arrested after scaling fences at the Black Fox nuclear plant under construction near Inola, Ohio, in a widespread action. A separate group of 12 trespassers planned to risk arrest at the Arkansas Nuclear One site near Russellville, while Massachusetts protesters aimed to block the Yankee Atomic Plant access with a three day protest. Simultaneous rallies included 75 pro nuclear supporters at Duke Power’s McGuire plant in Lake Norman, North Carolina, and over 100 anti nuclear demonstrators outside Hartford's Capitol protesting Connecticut's fourth plant.
