Bennett Named Dean for Academic Affairs at Cazenovia
Dr. Charles E. Bennett English professor at Cazenovia College has been named dean for academic affairs effective July. Since joining the faculty in 1966 he became a full professor in 1975 and has chaired multiple college committees and associations. He holds degrees from Hofstra Colgate and UNC Chapel Hill and belongs to several scholarly societies.

Darling Hill Observatory Opening
The Darling Hill Observatory of the Syracuse Astronomical Society on Strong Road Vesper will open Friday at dusk for public viewing. The 16 inch Cave reflector will be used to observe celestial objects. A rain date is set for Saturday.

Firm prepared to sue state to halt lottery
A New York City firm, Curtin Associates, warned Gov. Carey it will sue to halt the instant lottery, alleging the contract was not bid. The firm paused action to meet with State Comptroller Levitt. Carey and Lottery Director Quinn plan a $3.5 million contract with Scientific Games of Georgia without bidding.
