Salmon Return Drives Hope for Connecticut River Run
Nearly 200 years after dams and pollution drove Atlantic salmon from the Connecticut River, the species is staging an unprecedented comeback aided by artificial ladders. At Holyoke Dam 300 salmon were captured for breeding, up from 123 last year, as authorities push to restore upriver access to 270 miles.

Airlift of Ridley turtle eggs to Padre Island underway
Thousands of Ridley sea turtle eggs packed in styrofoam boxes await airlift from Rancho Nuevo Beach Mexico to Padre Island Texas. Biologist Jim Woods says the goal is imprinting hatchlings to the Texas nesting ground amid concerns about egg theft and limited imprinting data until four to seven years.
