Nursing home to replace Castle Rest in Syracuse
One of Syracuse's oldest facilities, Castle Rest Nursing Home, will be rebuilt on adjacent property at about $22 million after decades of repairs and financial trouble. Insurance theft case thrown out by judge
A state judge dismissed the second degree larceny charge against John Hanson of Minoa in an insurance premium theft case. Justice John Brunetti ruled the district attorney failed to present enough evidence to the grand jury and improperly granted Hanson immunity, tainting the process. The case dates to 1997 when Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Central New York canceled coverage for about 1,800 customers after premiums went missing.
