Mainly clear and cool tonight. Sunshine Saturday morning, then afternoon clouds. A shower or thunderstorm is possible late Sunday. Monday and Tuesday look partly sunny and warm. Boating forecast shows southwest winds 10 to 20 knots across lakes with clear visibility and 1 to 2 foot waves on Lake Ontario and Finger Lakes areas.
A storm system moving south from Canada brings scattered showers to the Dakotas and the northern Plains while lingering moisture in the Southeast raises odds of afternoon rain. The disturbance is expected to shift eastward, bringing additional rainfall to the region.
The extended forecast shows the western Great Lakes in calm to variable conditions by the afternoon while a front sweeps eastward bringing showers and storms from Virginia to northern Mississippi. Nor thern New York and northern New England may see afternoon showers with Rockies and much of California facing thunderstorms. Temperatures span 70s in the Northeast and Great Lakes to 100s in the southern Plains and Pacific states with Nebraska hit by hail up to baseball size amid severe storms.
