West Coast Storm Dazes Coast, Death Toll Rises

A monster Pacific storm battered the West Coast with 30 foot waves and heavy rain, killing seven and forcing evacuations. Power outages hit 100000 homes in California while highways closed and rivers flooded, as a second storm loomed inland toward Wyoming and Montana. A mudslide near Redding killed a county employee. Offshore, 80 to 100 mph winds in southern Oregon interrupted a hiker search. Near San Francisco Bay, tides and mudslides disrupted life and transport. Authorities warned urgent action for those near creeks and rivers.

Snowy Midwest Storm Triggers Fatal Crashes Across Missouri

Heavy snow slowed travel and caused numerous crashes from Kansas to Missouri with two deaths reported in Missouri. An 18 year old woman died when her twin sister’s car collided with another near Sedalia. A truck driver perished near Boonville as his vehicle slid down an embankment. Schools closed in northwest Missouri as up to six inches fell in several towns.
