Charter One Financial parent of Charter One Bank posted a 30 percent rise in 2000 earnings with a 500 percent fourth quarter jump driven by merger costs in the prior year. Alliance Financial Corp reported 2000 earnings of 5.43 million for the year on revenue 46.7 million, per share 1.52, compared with 54 million and 39 million revenue prior year. FleetBoston, parent of Fleet Bank, earned 3.0 billion in 2000, up from 2.8 billion. per share 3.68, revenue 14.8 billion, with fourth quarter 8/74 million versus a loss in 1999.
