Harrowing New Year Dives Across Cayuga County
Four people narrowly escaped freezing water as multiple rescues unfolded on New Year’s Day. Kimberly Carr and her 2 year old son Andrew survived three hours submerged in an icy stream after her car slid into water near Ira. They were treated and released from Auburn Memorial Hospital. In Little Sodus Bay two Rochester men swam to shore after their canoe capsized in near freezing water during a duck hunt. Forty plus others plunged into Cayuga Lake at Wells College by Aurora in 33 degree water and 14 degree air. Democrats Mason and Hunter took seats on Auburn city council, joining re sworn legislature members across Cayuga County.
