Texaco accused of hoarding gas reserves in Gulf

Congressional investigators accuse Texaco Oil Co of withholding gas from Tiger Shoal and Lighthouse Point fields off Louisiana to maximize profits. The two nonproducing Gulf Coast reservoirs contain about 0.5 trillion cubic feet, with production delayed to benefit higher prices. Massena power plan overturned in court ruling

A St. Lawrence County judge denied Massena’s bid to take over Niagara Mohawk Power facilities for a municipal system. The ruling cited substantial plan changes from the referendum approved in 1974 and noted the town would pursue condemnation or appeal before proceeding. The NiMo system serves about 20,000 customers in Massena.

Carter seeks 19.4 billion budget boost in 1979 plan

Fire Claims Three Lives At Willow Point Nursing Home

A fire at Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal, Broome County, killed at least three elderly residents and left one man missing. Eleven others, including two policemen and a firefighter, were treated for smoke inhalation. El len Armstrong, 84, was in critical condition at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Firefighters confined damage to the third floor and evacuated residents to nearby facilities.
