Pulp and paper experts from State University College of Forestry will join the annual Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry meeting in New York at the Hotel Commodore February 15 to 22. Prof C Earl Libby leads a delegation including Barti Church and Daniel W. Lent with 6 other faculty and 20 students attending. Senior and graduate students will interview for June jobs. many seniors named.
Fellow workers of Cliff English at General Foods sent him a unique Valentine noting twelve income tax refunds processed by the Syracuse office. Names and addresses across several states appear among the refunds, as federal refunds totaling 13 rise in amounts filed for by individuals and estates.
Tecumseh pupils may transfer to city schools depending on a district vote. A second public hearing is set for February 28 led by Tecumseh School Board president Kermit Daver. The board proposed a new two classroom building, estimated at about 200000 dollars, to address an aging Waring Road school.
Oneida Lake rose to 3705 feet above mean tide in New York harbor, with a February normal around 369 feet. Officials note gates at the Caughdenoy dam have been open since December, raising flood concerns. In Syracuse, the Board of Education approved admitting Techumsset district children, with 62 to 90 students expected by 1954, while other staffing changes and retirement benefits were discussed.

Father Tierney, ordained in 1927, has served at several Syracuse-area churches, most recently Our Lady of Lourdes.
The March board meeting may create a deputy superintendent of county buildings post. If created, Supervisor Claude B Benedict is named for the post, with potential successor elected from Manlius Town and a reshuffling of committees by Fritz Campbell.
CIVIC LEADERS as guests at the Onondaga County Volunteer Firemen's Association dinner to be held at 7 PM Saturday in the Hotel Onondaga ballroom. More than 400 volunteer firemen from 54 county departments expected. Guests include Mayor Corcoran Police Chief John A Kinney Francis L Ferran and NY State Volunteer Firemen's Association officers. An address on Facts on Underwriters' Requirements will be given by Paul M Beallan, engineer with the Syracuse Fire Insurance Rating Board. Arrangements are led by Charles P Cline George Mundy and Thomas Beagle.
