Deadline nears for Viet vets affected by Agent Orange
Four days remain before the deadline set by US District Judge Weinstein for about 39,000 Vietnam era veterans and surviving spouses to file claims for a $20 million Agent Orange settlement fund. Eligible vets include those exposed to the chemical between 1961 and 1971 while serving in Vietnam. Unclaimed funds will go to existing claimants, with survivors eligible for up to 3,400 and disabled veterans up to 42,800. Applications accepted by phone, fax, or mail with lines open to assist inquiries.
