Basel Switzerland December 17 four killed many injured as bombs hit the city damaging railway lines and Basel Central Station. Bombs targeted rail links with lines east of Basel crossing the Rhine into Germany and a restaurant inside the station wrecked.
Kenneth S. Legro 30 a former Dartmouth College hockey player and accountant was shot to death as he returned to his cottage in Hall Massachusetts. Police seek a Salem man described as a rejected suitor of the widow Marie Chenery. Three bullets were fired and shells found on the porch. the weapon remains missing. Legro married three months ago. neighbors assisted his wife after the shooting.
Vatican City officials say the College of Cardinals will extend Christmas greetings to Pope Pius VII in a special audience at 10 AM on December 24. The Vatican radio is expected to broadcast the Pontiff speaking in Italian at that time.
