Steel wage hikes loom. government not yet blesses
Senators were told steel officials sought government guidance before wage and price increases and received no official blessing. Alan Valentine said no federal authority approved the U S Steel raise of about 16 cents an hour and 5 percent price hike. The ESA may press Ford and General Motors to rescind auto price increases, a step described as logical by one ESA official.
