IRS clears back taxes on pay of POWs MIAs
The IRS announced that no back federal income taxes will be due on pay and allowances received by POWs or MIAs or their families. The agency said revenue ruling 72 53 does not apply to POW MIA cases and that the tax exemption covers compensation paid after death. The decision follows advocacy by the National League of Families and legal help from the American Bar Association.
