Israel plans compensation for dispossessed Arabs
Israel moves to compensate 5,000 to 10,000 Arab families whose land or property was seized during the 1948 war and its aftermath. Legislation prepared by the Justice Ministry sets a mid-1975 start for payments, with an initial 10 000 pound cash allotment per claimant, bonds at 5 percent, and the value based on the 1947 UN partition value, plus a currency adjustment.
