Bahamas leader warns of dangerous clashes with U S fishing boats
Bahamian Prime Minister Lynden Pindling told The Miami Herald the recent clashes between Florida based fishing boats and Bahamian fishermen are a serious, dangerous situation. He noted police patrol boats were rammed and cited a Cuban refugee lobster fishing conviction and vessel seizures as part of the tensions. He urged talks with the United States to renegotiate leases for military bases, including AUTEC on Andros Island with 466 personnel.
