Hollywood Bowl Gold Hunt Spurs by Antique Coin

Hollywood Dec 6 An old coin possibly a first installment on a treasure said to be worth 8200 000 spurred divers 24 feet beneath Hollywood Bowl parking lot. Bystanders dispute the coin’s date as 1859 or 1869 while a watcher sold it for 25 cents and claimed 75 cents value. Henry Jones leading the hunt notes rising activity in a doodiebug device used to detect gold. Legends say two Mexicans were taking the treasure to San Francisco to buy guns for a revolution and a curse reportedly followed the prize.

Dewey Opens Campaign With Speech On Agriculture

State Realty Group Seeks Impartial Review of Assessments

Albany on December 6 The New York State Real Estate Association plans legislative action to create an impartial review of assessments. Roger W. Huntington of Waterville, elected association president, announced the plan after a year of study by a committee and said the review bill would be introduced to the 1940 Legislature.

Delayed Sentencing for Workers Alliance Organizer

Judge James W. Liddle postponed until tomorrow the sentencing of Fred B. Greenwood an organizer of the Workers Alliance convicted of wilfully failing to provide for his six children aged 2 to 14 The report that Greenwood was the State president of the Workers Alliance after his conviction on November 30 was incorrect.
