GOP Chairman Dole Hints At Resignation Amid Nixon Request
United Press International reports that GOP national chairman Robert J. Dole yielded to President Nixon's request to resign, while Democratic chairwoman Jean Westwood signals no immediate step down. Dole may exit before the national committee meeting in Washington next month. Strauss claims 92 votes to unseat Westwood, with other candidates including O'Brien and George Mitchell in play.
