Lt. Walter Kozlowski, a B-29 pilot from Susie, returns from a mission over North Korea after dropping seven bombs. He receives a cablegram announcing the birth of his daughter and, while being interrogated by an intelligence officer, claims he cannot recall the target's name. He humorously says his wife forgot to tell him the name.
William Jesse Newton, who boarded the Polish liner Batory by landing a rented seaplane beside the ship, was arrested in England and flown back to the United States in U S marshal custody. He was taken to Brooklyn for arraignment after docking with the Batory, which had previously picked him up last August 9 when he landed at sea 100 miles from shore claiming he was out of gas.
President Truman plans a three minute fireside chat to be carried by major radio networks tonight. The address is set for Friday evening and will be televised in some markets.
