All solar powered house rises in Hudson Valley
A $450000 all solar home in Poughkeepsie rises on a hill above a lane. It is the first U.S. residence where heating cooling and power come entirely from sunlight with 250 sq ft of solar collectors and 450 sq ft of photovoltaic cells. The system stores energy in 10000 pounds of batteries and includes a backup generator. Architect Steven J. Strong and associate Jim Serdy designed the home for a private unnamed owner.
