Suit dismissed over state trooper assault claim
A state Court of Claims judge threw out a $750,000 lawsuit by Mark M. Reynolds of Skaneateles against the state, the state police and Troopers Terry House and Ronald Marlett. The judge found House acted to defend himself when Reynolds lunged during processing after a Feb. 11, 1978 DWI arrest, and ruled armed with probable cause for arrest and self defense. Reynolds had been drinking and smoking marijuana after a Route 20 crash, and later pleaded guilty to DWI and disorderly conduct.

The Onondaga Central School District will likely hire a new superintendent by September. Seven candidates were chosen from 76 applications after Curtis J. Maxson resigned in June. The board will meet the seven Tuesday and narrow to three by Wednesday. Four seven member committees will meet finalists on Sept. 14 16 and 17. Final selection expected in September with the aim of having the new leader in place by Nov. 1. One finalist is from Long Island another from the southwest state region and the rest from Central New York.
