Unions clash over representation of state workers in New York

ALBANY UPI A public employee union PS&T United filed a petition with PERB seeking to represent about 50,000 professional, scientific and technical state employees currently represented by PEF. If verified as slightly above 30 percent support, PERB would order a representation election. The 50,000 employees are under a contract with PEF through March 31 1982. PEF accuses PS&T United of thinly disguised union busting and notes NYEA provided only technical advice.

Phony pediatrician in Queens charged with unauthorized practice

A man posed as a pediatrician and treated more than 300 patients at a Queens health center starting mid July. Andre Nozile, 38, was arrested and charged after a Brooklyn physician suspected his credentials were being misused in a job application. No immediate harm reported, police said, and authorities declined to name the center until parents are notified.
