A 6 year old, Jerry Houghton, died after a red truck struck him in front of his home near Fairmount Corners. Deputies questioned a truck driver, later released, who called in saying he was shaken and later recalled multiple nearby vehicles. The boy, a first grade pupil at Spit Rock School, was found by a tree. coroner Harry Gilmore said death was instant.
