Farm museum preserves charms of Old New York farming
At the Fair's Agricultural Museum on Cheyenne Street visitors step into a quieter past with a log cabin replica, bill of fare from former fairs, and hand tools. Curator Gretchen Sorin notes about 50,000 yearly visitors and ongoing efforts to attract more, including a 19th century sideshow and a Hanford Mills exhibit. A 1986 Corning Glass exhibit is planned, and most displays come from the New York State Agricultural Society’s 1800s collection. Sy Rubin’s photographs of fairgoers since 1983 document 1980s life for future history.
