Milpitas California human rights activist Harry Wu spoke after his expulsion from China detailing two months of imprisonment and his plan to press on with human rights efforts. Syracuse police report a 36 year old father of three, Eric A Green of 142 144 Palmer Ave, shot in the neck and killed at about 2 am on Palmer Avenue. Two men, at least one armed, broke into his downstairs apartment demanding crack cocaine. Suspects fled, gun not recovered. Police call it a drug ripoff gone bad. 10th homicide this year. A massive Long Island blaze near Eastport, burning about 6,000 acres, saw winds drop to about 5 mph allowing firefighters to gain control. The fire, threatening luxury homes, destroyed one dwelling and three lumberyards with 40 minor injuries among the 1,500 volunteers and 40 firefighters. Authorities probe possible arson while Gov. Pataki praised the improving conditions.
