Feinstein Helps Secure Wu Release Amid China Talks
Sen. Dianne Feinstein pressed for Wu's release during four hours of negotiations with Chinese President Jiang Zemin. Wu, a former ally, was expelled from China after a short trial. Feinstein said the decision followed assurances the U.S. remains committed to a one China policy and not abandoning Taiwan’s status. The move appears to clear a hurdle for Hillary Clinton to attend the UN World Conference on Women.
