Thirty or more persons were hurt when a large section of plaster fell from the balcony of the Fuato Theater in Phoenix Arizona at about 10 10 PM. Firemen reported no deaths though counts varied and many were treated for bruises at local hospitals. Panic arose as a shout of fire caused a rush toward exits.
Karl Goerdeler former mayor of Leipzig and alleged ringleader in the July 20 plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler has been arrested by the Gestapo. Gestapo chief Himmier set a bounty of 1 000 909 marks on his head and Goerdeler was said to be in hiding after the failed attempt. He was identified in West Prussia as a woman auxiliary of the Luftwaffe.
