Fort Worth schools tout full classrooms as teacher shortages ease
Recruiting efforts help Texas fill vacancies with Wedgwood Middle School starting the year with a teacher in every classroom. Fort Worth ISD faced nearly 200 openings earlier, but only 35 of 4,500 positions remained vacant as classes began. Officials credit state retention laws, statewide recruitment, and both in-state and out-of-state efforts to address a large shortage impacting teacher certification and substitute staffing.
