Optimism for Quintuplets Born After Fertility Drugs

Doctors at Lutheran General Hospital report the quintuplets four girls and a boy are in critical but stable condition after a premature birth. They receive IV feeding and oxygen as a cautious recovery proceeds. The mother Amy Chikaraishi, 31, had been taking Pergonal and is in good condition. the father James Chikaraishi, 32, described his feelings as happy. The team cautions respiratory complications could arise as lungs develop, with a two to three month hospital stay anticipated.

FDA seeks British data in arthritis drug probe

The FDA requested Britain’s data on deaths and side effects tied to Oraflex after Eli Lilly halted sales of the arthritis drug.
