Alfred Lunt Dies at 84 After Cancer Surgery
Alfred Lunt, a major American stage star, died at 4:05 a.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago after bladder cancer surgery. His wife and partner Lynne Fontanne, age 90, was not at his bedside. she had visited him after his July 26 hospital admission. Lunt, born August 19, 1892, made his Broadway debut in Romance and Arabella in October 1917.
