Legislator condemns TC3 budget tactic on nursing cut
Cortland legislator Delmar Palm blasts Tompkins Cortland Community College Board for proposing to drop the nursing program to cut costs. He calls it a political move and urges trimming administrative and other programs instead. Palm says the nursing program is strong, and budget talks should show line by line details rather than a bottom line. The board seeks a 5.89 million budget with a 24 percent county cost increase, Tompkins County funding two thirds.

Central New Yorkers flock to parks as travel beats gas crunch
Attendance at Burnet Park Zoo and Green Lakes state park soars with many campgrounds reporting higher summer use. Officials cite lingering high fuel costs and the recovering travel industry, prompting more local trips and longer stays within a 500 mile radius. The Automobile Club of Syracuse notes more road travelers and a surge in tailored Triptiks. Private campgrounds near Plainville to Weedsport report busier summers, aided by NSF and regional attractions.
