Amerada Hess plans to file with the Department of Energy to shift 300000 gallons of gas from Don’s Hess at 758 Erie Boulevard West to five nearby Hess stations to prevent fuel shortages during Don’s Hess renovations. NRC staff says Three Mile Island accident could have been prevented

The NRC Office of Inspection and Enforcement reports that the Unit 2 accident near Harrisburg last March might have been prevented if operators had allowed safety systems to function as designed. Sticky Tonight With Warm Humidity and Shower Chances

Trade deficit widens as oil costs rise in Q2

Washington reports a sharp rise in the U.S. trade deficit to 7.64 billion dollars on a balance of payments basis for the second quarter. The 1.54 billion increase from Q1 marks the largest shortfall since the prior year’s third quarter, driven by higher imported oil costs and demand for small fuel-saving cars.
