New York Telephone seeks large rate hike and coin call rise

New York Telephone filed for a rate increase exceeding 750 million dollars, aiming an average 6.6 percent rise for New York state residential users. It also seeks a local coin call increase from 10 to 30 cents for the seventh time since 1972, with Ferguson arguing current PSC relief is insufficient. The company says changes could lower some rates and denies links to AT&T divestiture.
