Waddle defends decision to testify at inquiry
Honolulu attorney Jay Fidell says Waddle faced probing questions showing anger. Cmdr. Waddle, praised by civilian lawyer Charles Gittins for choosing to testify without immunity, accepted retirement dated Oct. 1 with pension. Navy findings found no criminal intent. Fargo pins responsibility on Waddle for collision due to urgency and poor crew coordination among sonar and control room staff aboard the Greeneville.
