Rise in sexual assaults partly due to reporting
The Rape Crisis Center reports a 69 percent rise in sexual assault cases in the first three and a half months of 1981, with 171 cases handled and 47 incest cases. Center director Pat Fletcher notes increased reporting and crime growth, while outreach programs may have boosted awareness. The surge forces a temporary pause on community speaking engagements.
