Philip Wrigley Dies at 82 Former Cubs Owner
Philip K. Wrigley chewing gum magnate and Chicago Cubs owner died at his Wisconsin home at age 82 from a gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Born December 5, 1884 in Chicago, he led the Cubs era with pennants in 1932 1935 and oversaw the controversial College of Coaches experiment before Leo Durocher. He built a wide business empire and pursued yachting cooking and tinkering hobbies. Survived by widow Helen and two daughters.

A 69 year old New York man with pancreatic cancer won a federal order protecting his use of Laetrile from U S Customs and the Health and Welfare Department. Judge Mark A Costantino signed the ruling permitting purchase and importation supported by the patient’s doctor. Laetrile is produced in Mexico from apricot pits and bitter almonds and used in over 20 countries to treat cancer.
