Japan aims to end discrimination in immigration law
Tokyo reports that after three decades Japan will eliminate a key discrimination against 280000 Koreans and 8000 Taiwanese residents. The reform would grant automatic permanent residence to those who lost citizenship when Korea and Taiwan were former colonies, with protections for their children and grandchildren. The plan, the fifth of its kind, faced opposition over bans on foreign political activity.
