Young Hayden lad escapes death after sewer shaft fall
On Monday evening the younger son of Mr and Mrs Frank Hayden of King Edward Avenue fell 16 feet into a sewer shaft while playing with his elder brother. He landed on a platform and moved aside to allow a rescue party safe access. He suffered mainly a cut above one eye. he recovered with no serious injuries. The incident occurred as neighbours assisted and medical aid arrived. The article also notes a future local concert at Sunshine Town Hall featuring Meritana melodies performed by the Yarraville St Andrews Choral and Dramatic Society.
