Sustenance Fraud Case In Maidstone Conviction

Harold Lawton of Howard Street Maidstone was found guilty on four charges of making mute false statements in his sustenance application. The court heard his son earned more than allowed and rent was overpaid. Lawton claimed no intent to defraud and said domestic worries caused the issue. He was fined £5 with a one month stay of distress.

Sewer scheme in Braybrook to curb river pollution

The Metropolitan Board has negotiated with Braybrook factories to install sewerage facilities for disposal of waste into the Maribyrnong River. A scheme costing about 240000 is ready. factory owners have signed agreements enabling immediate start and rough sewer connection plans have been supplied to the plants.

Rowdy passenger charged with indecent language on Sunshine train

James Riley, a Western Australia arrival, faced Sunshine Court of Petty Sessions for using indecent language on January 30 while travelling on the Sunshine line. A steeplejack by trade, he claimed a broken bank account and denied the accusation. he was fined £2 with seven days in jail on default.

Postmaster notes enrolment for State election

Mr Bourke the postmaster at Sun Shine says enrolment cards are arriving for the roll. He reminds the roll closed January 8, and those enrolling now cannot vote in the forthcoming state election.

Wedding Bells at Presbyterian Church for Miss Jean Clark

The Presbyterian Church hosted the wedding of Miss Jean Clark daughter of Mr James Clark Ade laide Street and Mr Jack Patten Sunshine. Miss Clark wore white satin with pleats and a train carried by her niece Josie Hildebrandt. Bridesmaids Miss Betty Clark and Betty Munro wore azure blue crepe gowns with halos and bouquets. The ceremony was followed by a reception at the bride’s home with guests from Murchison Yarrawonga and Warnambool.
