Local notes report the sudden death of Ivor Rowland, 34, a Sunshine Field Gun Club founder and vice-captain, laid to rest at Melbourne General Cemetery with club officials present. Adjutant and Mrs Oakley appointed to lead the Sunshine Salvation Army at Katanning Western Australia with first meetings planned for Sunday. Captain Roy transferred to South Fitzroy. The Oakleys bring eight years in the Western State and seven years in the old country. They were welcomed at a Salvation Army Hall social on Wednesday with Rev G R Godbehear and local churchpeople in attendance.
The Sunshine Swimming Club committee invites the public to a life saving demonstration at the pool next Sunday at about 1 p.m. Misa G Haas will be the demonstrator as part of the Learn to Swim Campaign and all are welcome.
