La Pata Completion Expected in August
The La Pata project linking San Clemente with surrounding areas targets August completion with about half of the paving to be finished by January. Importing surplus dirt resumes this week from nearby banks for the 1-5 widening, with 70 000 cubic yards planned in six weeks. Residents and schools along the haul route have been notified as San Clemente firms meet October water conservation goals, cutting September use by 30 percent from two years prior.
