McClellan Jr. 76 longtime Hartford attorney dies in New Bern
John Franklin Mac McClellan Jr. 76 a retired Hartford Insurance Group attorney with offices in Towson San Francisco and Alexandria died of renal failure at Bayview Rehabilitation Center New Bern on November 9 2019. Born August 6 1943 in Richmond he spent early years in Baltimore and Monkton Maryland. He graduated Towson High School in 1961 and the University of Maryland in 1965. He and his father John F McClellan Sr. completed law school in two years while working full time. He worked for The Hartford for 31 years before moving to New Bern in 2001. He served on New Berns planning and zoning commission for eight years retiring in 2009. He is survived by his wife Joan two daughters Laura Bowdring and Aimee McClellan, sister Virginia, brother William and stepchildren Yousef and Noreen Sait. A memorial service is set for Centenary United Methodist Church on November 14 2019 at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church.
