Sarasota County Opposition to Panama Canal Treaty Discussed
On a Sandegren recommendation the Sarasota County Commission debated opposing the Panama Canal treaty. The board authorized Sandegren to draft a letter to Senators Stone and Childs signaling county opposition while avoiding formal resolution. Beverly Clay warned against foreign affairs involvement. Rhodes noted the senators’ votes did not reflect Florida’s views.
