Public meetings of the Council Are held on alternate tuesdays and executive meetings Are conducted on the other tuesdays. Engineering expense approved City Council approved at tuesdays meeting an expenditure of funds to Complete engineering in connection with sewer problems at Capri Isles. At the same time City manager Dale Rieth informed Council he had Given instructions that no new site plans be approved in Capri Isles until All sanitary sewer questions Are answered. The Bureau of the census will use 65,000 cardboard desks for clerical workers for the 1980 census because its cheaper than renting furniture. Continued from Page 1 those members who resigned said they did so because they could not afford to accept the personal liability they believed fell on their shoulders due to the Lack of safety precautions being taken at the Airport. Sheila Hagan said a was Long As Council does no to see the Light i can to sit on the Board. If Council reconsiders i would do likewise if both . Hagan and Ingram said they were sorry the situation had turned out this Way. Ingram spoke of kids on skates and bicycles on Airport grounds As Well As drag racing on the runways and said Council should see these things. Rieth reported that Tom Murray from the flight standards division of a a had called him wednesday after hearing the news that Council had turned Down the Fence idea. Murray told Rieth that if the City does not make the safety corrections recommended by Faa he Murray will file a complain with the District regional office and attempt to have the corrections made by some other jurisdiction. He said the Airport is still Federal property and must be maintained properly. Safety conditions Are reportedly considered part of maintenance. Murray also indicated to Rieth that the idea of the facility reverting to Federal control is not entirely out of the question. He said the aviation portion of the Airport is of Paramount importance All other considerations Are secondary and that will never change. Rieth was also told that nothing Short of the recommended six foot safety Fence which would prevent vehicle animal and pedestrian traffic will be acceptable by Faa. Anderson said a this is what we have been hearing for the last three years but until Council takes action to put the Fence up nothing has changed. He then made his suggestion concerning the hiring of an Airport manager a Post abolished last october at his urging. A if Council has decided never to improve the Airport a said Anderson Quot the Only maintenance necessary will be to Cut the he agreed this could be done on a subcontract basis As suggested by Rieth. Anderson also told the recently resigned Board members that he sympathized with Rieth and added that the City managers personal creditability with Faa is suffering As a result of councils action. Those who resigned assured Rieth they would be Happy to help in any Way they could As Long As it was in an unofficial capacity. They refuse to continue in any official capacity however because of the possible liability involved should a serious Accident Ever occur at the Airport. Anderson also disclosed that councilman Kalajian just Short hours after the Council meeting had expressed to him his desire to see the Fence constructed. Had Kalajian voted for the Fence instead of against it Caffrey a motion would have failed.
