Venice approves segmented breakwaters to curb beach erosion
Redington describes plans for four breakwaters off Venice Beach aimed at slowing erosion south of the fishing pier. About 8 000 cubic yards of sand will be added east of the initial line with more to come. Officials say the design was independently reviewed and may boost fishing by attracting fish around rock piles. Completion hinges on permitting and contractor selection with six to nine months of calm-water work after award.
