Englewood eyes self rule through regional planning body
Englewood moves toward local control as Sarasota and Charlotte counties back a joint land use committee. A proposed six to eight member Englewood Area Planning Commission would issue land use recommendations and create a community sector plan with the force of law once integrated into Apexsee. Community leaders want self determination without incorporation. The plan now heads to Charlotte county for approval as the next step.
