Erosion control breakwaters planned off Venice shore
A Sarasota firm proposes four offshore breakwaters to slow beach erosion south of the Venice Fishing Pier. The 45 by 113 foot structures would sit 300 feet offshore with about 20 000 cubic yards of sand to nourish the beach. The Army Corps of Engineers review is pending approval.
