Peter Hill a Knox County patriarch died suddenly at his Sandborn home on the 12th at age eighty. A Greene County native born in 1832, he served as first lieutenant in Co. K 80th Indiana during the Civil War. Survived by an adopted daughter Bessie Young and three brothers, he lived in Sullivan and Carlisle before moving to Sandborn. He was active in grain and pork packing and stock business.

On a Gill Township farm eight miles west of town J D Maple unearthed a Spanish silver coin dated 1198.
